Why Bachelorette Parties May Not Be As Exciting As You Think

With a lot of bachelorette parties destinations, you could find online, it’s easy to get attracted to anything that looks promising and offers a lot of excitement. And here you are, taking the bait.

Not paying much attention to the price and location, you started notifying your friends on all social media, announcing the extravagant party plan. Who could blame you? You just want your bride-to-be friend to loosen up and have a great night before her wedding day.

So what’s the first thing you could think of as you plan your bestie’s bachelorette party? Probably strip clubs, penis-shaped lollipops, and other silly items. Maybe getting drunk, and a lot of other stuff you might regret remembering when you get sober the next day. After all, that’s the traditional way of doing a bachelorette party which has been going on for decades.

However, behind all the fun, there are some things that actually make people not want to attend bachelorette parties.

Here are some of them.

It’s hella expensive

Many articles would read about bachelorette parties would talk about this issue. And it is often the first thing a lot of women would worry about once they get an invitation from whoever’s planning it. It’s no surprise now that many millennials spend over $ 1,000 for one crazy night. This includes travel costs, hotels, meals, gifts, and everything else just needed to make an unforgettable night happen.

Lots and lots of planning

Knowing that this party could definitely hurt you and your friends’ wallets, planning a bachelorette party can also be stressful. Everyone’s got their own ideas of how and where money should be spent which results in conflicts. Which then may end up to a lot of drama among your friends while you try to make the best decision.

Embarrassing ideas

What’s fun for you may be a bit — or hugely — embarrassing for the bride-to-be and some of your friends. Maybe you think wearing a penis nose joke glasses while holding a penis lollipop is funny, but some might feel awkward walking around with those and being seen by a lot of people.

The more people, the more difficult

You probably understand that your own circle of friends is not the bride-to-be’s only circle of friends. She can have colleagues or even some close relatives that she considers friends that you and your own friends are not close with. You can’t expect everyone to have the same understanding of what “fun” is to you, and having them join your crazy ride can make it more difficult.

These are just some of the problems you might encounter when planning a bachelorette party.

So how can you fix this?

The main key point in planning a bachelorette party that is worth remembering is having good COMMUNICATION.

First of all, you and your friends will have to expect that you would all have to spend a good amount of cash for your bride-to-be. However, it doesn’t mean that you should go all out and burn your wallets. Traveling by plane alone is already costly if you or your friends are coming from different places.

Hotels don’t need to be extravagant, just find a place nice enough to keep your belongings and help you prepare for your party. Meals shouldn’t be complicated, just pick simple dishes that are familiar and everyone can agree on.

Planning should go smoothly for everyone. And, again, communication is key. Sit down with your circle of friends, ask how much they’re willing to spend and then work things out from there. Most likely, your circle of friends is the one you’ve had the longest, right? Being open to each other should not be an issue.

Speaking of being open to each other, make sure to open up all your crazy ideas that you have for your party.

Traditional bachelorette parties are known to be wild, and obviously it can’t apply to everyone, maybe even with your closest friends. Understand that they may have different ideas of what a bachelorette party is about. Some may not be in on the sickest party games that you have planned.

Now, to the last important part.

Say, you’ve already agreed to all the expenses, gifts, games, and other crazy stuff you’ve all planned for the night, it’s time to ask the bride-to-be. Who else does she want to invite to your party? You can’t just expect her to go all out in front of her cousins, or any acquaintances that she hasn’t seen for a long time. If you know who’s attending the party, you’ll know how to tame it just enough for everyone to have fun, especially the bride-to-be.

Remember this, you are planning your bestie’s party and not your own. Don’t be disappointed if the final draft ends up boring and not as fun as you had planned. What matters is that it works for everyone—your own circle of friends and the bride-to-be’s other circle of friends. Even if it hurts everyone’s budget a little, you’d all feel it was worthwhile instead of waking up the next day with a lot of regrets.

A successful bachelorette party is not based on how funny, wild, and crazy things went. Make your bachelorette party an opportunity to connect with your friends who you haven’t seen for a long time.  Catch up, even meet new people and make new friends. Most especially, a night that the bride-to-be would be happy to remember and be thankful for before she approaches a new stage in her life and for the rest of her life.

That’s what your definition of “fun” should be for a perfect bachelorette party.
